Help Colin Fight Stage 3 Prostate Cancer

Many of you know Colin, but many of you don’t know the many hats he wears. He is a middle school science teacher at Hope Elementary School in Hope, Maine. Aside from being a devoted teacher, he is a wonderful friend to many; a husband, uncle, brother, and son; a member of the Masonic Lodge in Tenants Harbor; jiu-jitsu purple belt; and ardent outdoorsman.

Colin was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Prostate Cancer, which has spread to his lymph nodes.

Early on, Colin and his wife Rebecca struggled to get the process of his diagnosis and treatment moving. Between insurance blocks and the local medical system being extremely slow, it was a scary and frustrating period.

It was a Hail Mary pass to send Dana-Farber Cancer Institute an email asking for their help. They replied within days, and quickly had doctors lined up for Colin to see. Dealing with the insurance company was (and still is) a battle, but Colin's care is currently being managed by a great team at Dana-Farber.

Colin is currently undergoing hormone therapy to starve the cancer of the testosterone it needs to grow, and he will soon begin intensive radiation therapy (44 treatments over a couple of months, beginning in late September). He is balancing the conventional approach with a holistic approach focused on diet and supplementation, with the full support of his medical team at Dana-Farber.

Colin and Rebecca need help covering the costs of his treatment and travel back and forth to Boston.
