On June 20th, 2021, our brother, Michael Pot, went to urgent care due to pain in his abdomen and back.  They found tumors in his abdominal cavity, and we later learned that it was cancerous.  On July 14th, Michael was diagnosed with Desmoplastic small round cell tumors, which is an extremely rare case of cancer, and not a lot of research out there for proper treatment. His cancer has aggressively metastasized, and is at advanced stage IV with palliative care in place.  He recently started his first round of aggressive chemotherapy.  The prognosis is poor with a very low survival rate.  His life expectancy will be drastically shortened, so we are cherishing every moment with him as tomorrow isn’t promised. 

As you can imagine, this news turned our family’s entire world upside down. This prognosis was simply devastating, and we are determined to FIGHT and heal Michael of this awful disease.

Michael is one of seven (7) siblings and have eight (8) nieces and nephews whom he is an amazing uncle to! Michael is literally the most selfless person you will ever meet! He will give the shirt on his back to anyone in need. His charming personality will get you smiling in seconds!

This last month has been very challenging for him and the family. Michael is undergoing his first round of chemotherapy, as well as countless trips to the hospital for a variety of medical care as one of his chemotherapy treatments require him to be inpatient. Although his workplace is very understanding of his condition and allowing him to take time off for treatment, he will not be collecting an income during his treatment.

Unfortunately, what Michael is experiencing is beyond our imagination. We are starting this GoFundMe as a way to help Michael and the family alleviate the financial burden of the mounting medical bills, lost wages, travel costs for treatment along with any other unforeseen expenses that may arise.
