Stand up for our mom Patty

"Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying; I will try again tomorrow". Courage takes on a whole new meaning in the face of cancer and our family is trying to do everything we can to make tomorrow better for our mom. Cancer knocked at our mom's door four years ago. She faced the chemo/radiation journey head on and as Jim Harbaugh of our Niners says - looked it in the eye and whipped it. The road wasn't easy and the journey back anything but fun; but she wanted more than anything to meet my brother's first born who was due in the summer. She would move mountains for her grandchildren. Celebrating their birthdays is one of her favorite things. We were happy to note that hair does grow back and eventually you do stop feeling nauseous - eventually. She celebrated another grandchild (my brother was busy), baseball games, dance performances, pageants, a new son in-law, and many, many more birthdays.

Fast forward to today, cancer knocked at her door again. It came suddenly and unexpectedly and in a form much worse - bone marrow and blood cancer are the toughest of battles. The treatment was the mother of all chemotherapies and I couldn't even begin to list the number of medicines and transfusions she has had to go through. There are no words to describe how hard of a battle it is on a person. The hair is gone again and the nausea back with a vengeance, and the battle not yet won; but we get to bring mom home. She really wants to come home and we need your help to make every tomorrow at home a good one. Our mom needs nursing care and this isn't provided by the hospital. My dad needs help. We are getting the house ready and want to do everything we can to help her be as cared for as possible. We pray and hope for more birthdays. Your prayers and hope are enough, for anything else you can give we thank you from our hearts.

Thank you,
