Help Save Dylan: Surgery and Road to Recovery

Donation protected

Dylan (above with tongue out) and his brother Dino are litter mates. For the first 6 months of their lives, they lived in crates in their own filth. Thankfully, the rescue we were fostering with New England Lab Rescue pulled the boys from a southern kill shelter because they were the next 2 be euthanized. Dino and Dylan came to us as fosters; however, they are extremely bonded and were going to be split up, so we decided to adopt them. Dylan and Dino complete our family. Dyan is the sweetest most loving boy, and I honestly don't know what his brother Dino is going to do throughout all of this. They are extremely bonded.

Hi my name is Ashley, Dylan has been going through some health issues as of late. On Tuesday 4/9 Dylan began vomiting. His vomiting continued and got worse so we took him to VEG Boston, they did extensive bloodwork and X-rays. It was decided to hospitalize him overnight since his X-rays were inconclusive. He was given IV fluids overnight and repeat X-rays in the morning. There was nothing causing an obstruction so Dylan ate some chicken and tolerated it and we were discharged Fri 4/12. Dylan seemed to be doing better however, he began vomiting again Thursday 4/18. We called VEG and we were instructed to give him nausea medication and wait an hour to feed him chicken rice. He ate twice Thursday, however, he hasn't eaten since. We were scheduled for an ultrasound at VEG Saturday 4/20. It came back that Dylan has inflammation in his intestines and will need a CT and an exploratory laparotomy that is estimated at $8,000-10,000. We were then sent Angell Animal Medical Center. We have worked out a treatment plan with the doctor and Dylan will have a more extensive ultrasound tomorrow Tuesday 4/23, which is estimated to cost $2,000-3,000. We have already spent close to $5,000. I hate to ask for help however, I am willing to do anything that is necessary to make sure Dylan gets everything he needs in order to get him better.
