Help Kasper Fund Cancer Treatment for Research

Donation protected
In November 2020 shortly before his 16th birthday, Kasper was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive childhood cancer - embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma (eRMS). It was to be the first of many shocks on the cancer rollercoaster. He underwent surgery five times before being able to start intensive chemotherapy in January 2021 and has 6 weeks of daily radiotherapy still to come on top of the chemo. The 5 year survival rate for Rhabdomyosarcoma can be as low as 20%. The overall survival rate after one relapse is 10%. Kasper is going down a road that will split into two paths. Life and death.

Kasper is grateful for all funds received which will pay for:
·         current and post-chemo molecular analysis of mutating tumour cells, and
·         genetic and immunology profiling of the environment (ie Kasper’s body) with
·         para-oncologists and scientists to review, analyse and interpret the data and identify targeted therapies
·         Kasper's ongoing data coupled with blood biopsy tracking of his progress and outcome monitoring will be used to model a new paradigm for the threatment of Rhabdomyosarcoma

As Kasper says, this is the difference between bombing the building in the hope of obliterating the intruder or sending in a trained marksman. This new paradigm medicine is only just emerging into mainstream practices.

Kasper is asking for your help to do comprehensive molecular testing and analysis to give him a fighting chance. He will then open source his data so that it can be used to advance understanding of rare cancers and help children like him around the world.

Kasper’s Hope
·        Kasper’s hope is that he will be able to attend 6th form.
·        Kasper’s hope is that children in the future will have a real chance of better outcomes through targeted medicine.
