Help us Save Our Wedding

Hello, I'm Ian. I've been dating Erica for almost three years and we decided to get married!

After a run of bad luck events earlier this year, Erica needed to move in with me. We were down to one car (mine) but we were slowly climbing back on top and were able to fund a small wedding in November 2023.

Last Saturday, Erica was driving to work. She drove an unfamiliar route, hit a rock, and the car flipped over. It landed on the roof and all the airbags deployed.

Erica was checked out on the scene and aside from cuts on her leg and all the bruises in the world, she emerged mostly ok, but lacks the medical insurance to get checked out by a real doctor and essentially had to return to work first thing Monday. I'm very grateful it wasn't worse because it should have been.

The car, however, is totaled. I liked that car. The last thing it did was save my fiance's life by being solidly built and having lots of airbags. Turns out I don't have the kind of insurance that pays for the car if it gets totaled after hitting a rock. There is no check in the mail.

We are without a car, Erica is in pain and her bruises are getting worse, and it's doubtful we can afford to put literally any money towards a wedding.

I don't know how to recover from this. I don't have a plan. I usually have a plan. We both work, and have steady jobs. Our credit isn't great, so if we need to finance a car we need to have most of the money down.

I put a goal of $15,000. I figure this would let us get Erica checked out by a real doctor, take care of any predatory fees associated with a car accident, and perhaps afford a car that would keep my fiance safe.

We can also get married in November, which is the biggest thing.
