We are the family and friends of our beloved Barbara D. Sherwood.
Our dearest Barbara, experienced multiply diagnosis in the past few years causing her to medically retire in 2016. At the same time, her loving husband lost his job when the electronic company he worked for went out of business in September 2016.
Last week our family Sweetheart Barbie, had a series of strokes that left her in a coma. The medical professionals have informed us that Barbara will not be with us much longer. We are hopefully however we are realistic and must prepare for her homegoing services in the next 20 days.
It has been recently discovered that Barbara, was experiencing memory loss that was unrecognizable, causing her to miss bill payments, leaving her with lapsed medical and life insurance policies. She and her husband have been residents of McDonough, GA. Barbara and Tony served as deacon and deaconess at their Georgia home church, Word Reaching Destiny Ministries. It is our hope to bring Barbara, back home to Connecticut to lay to rest. The funding is for the transporting Barbara back to Connecticut for her homegoing and for medical expenses incurred.
Barbara, is a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, best friend and never a stranger to anyone. She walked in the light and enjoyed life. She, served in the Medical Unit of The Army Reserves. She was also the First Female African American Police Officer for the City of Norwalk, CT where she was a long-standing resident for decades. Also, she was a member of St. James Baptist Church, in South Norwalk and served as our Choir Director for many years. Barbara was also a member of the Eastern Stars, Norwalk Branch. She spent time in the 90’s as one of the first women promoters to market comedy shows from NY to CT and she did that well, too.
We miss Barbara already she has brought so much love and protection to all of us. We want to provide her a homegoing that will honor her life and legacy. Barbara, loves our Lord and Savior Jesus and we take comfort that we shall see her again.
Thank you all for your donations, prayers, blessings, and condolences.
The loving family and friends of Barbara D Sherwood.
We are the family of Barbara P Sherwood nee Derry.
