Mi chiamo Anastasia Acheampong e da 15 anni convivo con una grave condizione che mi ha causato dolorose cicatrici cheloidee intorno al collo e in altre parti del corpo. Ho già subito cinque interventi chirurgici, ma purtroppo la mia situazione non è migliorata.

Due anni fa, mio cugino Padre Stephen Yaw Manu mi ha aiutata a raggiungerlo in Italia per cercare cure migliori. Oggi vivo a Roma, presso la casa dei Missionari della Carità, l’ordine religioso di cui lui fa parte. Mi hanno accolto con grande generosità, offrendomi ospitalità a causa della mia condizione e per permettermi di tentare ogni possibilità di cura.

Di recente, dopo una visita online con un ospedale negli Stati Uniti, i medici ci hanno dato una nuova speranza: credono finalmente di potermi aiutare. Tuttavia, il costo del trattamento è di 20.000 dollari (circa 17.000 euro), cifra che non include viaggio e alloggio. Il trattamento potrebbe iniziare già da ottobre 2025, ma solo se riusciremo a raccogliere i fondi necessari.

Questa è la mia ultima possibilità di vivere libera da questa condizione dolorosa e invalidante.

Purtroppo, non possiedo un conto corrente personale e, per motivi legali, non posso aprirlo. Per questo motivo, le donazioni saranno raccolte sul conto di mio cugino, Padre Stephen Yaw Manu, che è pienamente informato.

Padre Stephen normalmente non svolge attività di fundraising, ma ha attivato questo conto appositamente per aiutarmi ad accedere al trattamento medico di cui ho urgentemente bisogno.

My name is Anastasia Acheampong, and for the past 15 years I have been living with a severe condition that has caused painful keloid scars around my neck and other parts of my body. I have already undergone five surgeries, but unfortunately, my condition has not improved.

Two years ago, my cousin Father Stephen Yaw Manu helped me travel to Italy in search of better treatment. I currently live in Rome, at the Missionaries of Charity Contemplative Brothers’ Home, the religious order to which he belongs. They welcomed me with great generosity, offering me hospitality because of my condition and to allow me to pursue every possible chance of treatment.

Recently, after an online consultation with a hospital in the United States, the doctors gave us new hope: they believe they can finally help me. However, the cost of the treatment is $20,000 (about €17,000), and this does not include travel or accommodation. Treatment could begin as early as October 2025, but only if we are able to raise the necessary funds.

This is my last chance to live free from this painful and disabling condition.

Unfortunately, I do not have a personal bank account, and for legal reasons, I am not allowed to open one. For this reason, the donations will be collected through the bank account of my cousin, Father Stephen Yaw Manu, who is fully aware of this fundraising campaign.

Father Stephen normally does not engage in any fundraising activities, but he has set up this dedicated account specifically to help me access the treatment I urgently need.
