Grahame Mackenzie Needs OUR Help

Donation protected

You could always find Grahame in his shed tinkering around with Pearl Jam blaring in the back ground or out on an adventure on his motorbike. He loved to fish & have a beer with his mates but above all else he loved his family & he would of done anything for them. He worked hard, enjoyed his job & was good at it. He was & still is a great man.

In September 2014 Grahame told his wife he wasn't feeling well & went to bed, she found him an hour later collapsed & unresponsive. Grahame was rushed to hospital & spent 7 days in critical condition in ICU.

Grahame was moved to the infectious disease unit at Princess Alexandra Hospital Brisbane. The doctors had no idea why Grahame was so unwell. Around this time Grahames muscles broke down leaving him unable to walk, talk, eat or drink. His organs were struggling. He does not remember his time there.

Grahame was moved to the brain rehabilitation unit & underwent extensive physiotherapy to try and rebuild some of his lost muscle.

The doctors have said that due to an unknown reason Grahame received a brain injury second to Encephalopathy.

Grahame spent around 1 year in hospital & was released home. Grahame requires 24 hour care & his wife Sandra provides most of that care. We do not know if Grahame will ever recover.

Grahame was very lucky & had income protection but that has ended now & they are waiting on a disability pension.

They have been able to buy land with Grahames super & are wanting to build a home for their family that is suitable for a wheelchair. They will need to borrow money to build.

Not once during the last 2 years have either of them asked for any help & they aren't now.. I am. They are strong, they have so much love & they would live in a cardboard box if they could be together but they are struggling, emotionally & financially.

My goal is to raise as much money as possible to help them get through these tough times & hopefully allow them to get there feet back on the ground.

Our family sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Bad things happen to good people & we just want the best for Grahame.
