Save Hyde’s Greenbelt - Godley Green

Hi , i’m Claire and set up Save Tameside Greenbelt group on Facebook back in 2016. After Tameside Council agreed to an outline planning application to build 2150 Houses on Godley’s Greenbelt in November 2023, we as a group feel we have no other choice but to pursue a Judicial Review. We initially want to try and raise £10,000 which will go towards any fee’s incurred .

Over 4200 people objected to this scheme and we’ve been ignored at every turn. We believe a development of this scale will have a devastating effect of the infrastructure and wildlife in the area. How will our school’s , doctors and dentists etc cope?

The area is well used and loved by many!!

These houses won’t address the housing need of the area , with only allegedly 15% affordable!

The development of the area could also see land owners forced off their own land with threats of compulsory purchase, One land owner - Alan French read about the demolition of his own farm via the Manchester Evening News!

We want to protect this land from development and keep it for future generations for years and years to come!
