What: The 4x4x48 Challenge is a decentralized event taking place across Canada, the US, and other countries from March 5 - 7, 2021. The challenge is to run 4 miles, every 4 hours, for 48 hours straight. Our intention is to turn this event into an online charity stream that lasts 48 hours and features us both running and also interacting with viewers, engaging in entertaining competitions, and having guest speakers come on for lectures or interviews. Our four-person team will be split between our respective households and communicating over Zoom during the stream and on runs!
Who: The challenge was created and popularized by David Goggins , a retired Navy Seal famous for his mentality and perseverance (even among the Seals!). He is the author of the bestselling book “Can’t Hurt Me” and also works as a public speaker and charity fundraiser. Our team wants to participate in this challenge to help raise money for an outstanding charitable venture while sharing stories about Mr. Goggins, his philosophy, his rigour and his pursuit of excellence through sustained physical challenge.
The Charity: The focus of this fundraising adventure is Honour House .
Honour House a refuge, a “home away from home” for members of our Canadian Armed Forces, Veterans, Emergency Services Personnel and their families to stay, completely free of charge, while they are receiving medical care and treatment in the Metro Vancouver area. They principally help those recovering from Operational Stress Injuries (sometimes called "PTSD"). As Reservists ourselves, we feel a strong affiliation for the outstanding work of Honour House.
Our goal is to raise $10,000, which is enough to fund one room for a year.
Tune in to the livestream on Twitch on March 5th at 20:00!
