Support a Family in Need After Devastation

Hello everyone! My name is Jordan and I have a 3-year-old son, Jack. We are originally from Texas and recently relocated to Asheville, NC, in hopes of getting more help with my son and being closer to his father. We spent close to 3 months hotel surfing and job hunting in order to get a home up here to officially relocate. I got a full-time job finally after searching and applying all over West SC and NC. We spent our entire savings and tax money to survive until we found a place.

We finally were able to land a really beautiful apartment/townhouse that was near the Swannanoa River - it was everything we had dreamed of, and I had never been happier to finally have a home for my boy that we could start over in and build our lives up. Through help from family and every dime of savings we had, we managed to get approved and got the $3,000 together to move in. We had never been so excited and full of joy to be where we were.

We moved in on September 14th, and then Hurricane/Tropical Storm Helene hit our area on the 27th - there has been complete devastation here along with our brand new lovely home. We managed to get out of the home and to safety through unimaginable circumstances, but the main dam here basically almost ended up bursting and went to critical levels and had to be opened up to relieve the pressure. When this happened, it completely wiped out our entire street. When I did manage to get back to my street after things calmed down a bit, I found absolutely nothing left... not a single belonging in sight and zero sign that any structure had ever been there. It was definitely one of the worst feelings and sights I had ever witnessed.

I have been in absolute shock and so glad we are alive, but we have nothing now - none of our clothes, computers, all of my son's essentials, and almost every sentimental item we had is just gone. I am just reaching out for any help, any little thing that I can do to get me and my son back on our feet. These funds will be used to replace the basic necessities like clothes, food, and shoes and possibly a deposit for a new place. The community here is just beautiful and fascinating for the help we did receive, and my heart goes out to every single person affected by this traumatic event. I will do every thing I can to pay it forward and help who I come across that needs it.

Thank you so, so much from the bottom of my heart for any help provided.

All of the love and high hopes to all of you.
