On November 1, 2022 Jackson, the goldendoodle, had an accident which resulted in him needing emergency care.

What happened? His mom, Jamie O’Mara, came home from work and realized he was having trouble walking and she brought him to the emergency animal hospital. It was later determined that Jackson’s back left leg was broken and that he would require emergency surgery to repair the break.

How did it happen? It is unclear how Jackson broke his leg. Jackson was out on a walk the morning of the accident and fine but ultimately sustained his injury while his mom was at work. The Doctor described that this injury is common for Goldendoodles because of their thin legs. He may have jumped down from a couch or bed wrong or got his leg stuck and it snapped when he was pulling it out.

Why isn’t his leg in a cast? The break was too far up so a cast could not be placed on his leg.

How long is the recovery? 16-20 weeks.

Jackson did not have pet insurance coverage at the time of the accident.
