My name is Alexa and I’m creating this gofundme in an effort to help my family.
On August 25, 2024, my brother Chris and his family experienced a kitchen fire that has left their 900 sq ft apartment significantly damaged. This unexpected disaster has added tremendous stress to an already challenging situation.
Chris and his wife, Becky, recently moved into this temporary home, away from their hometown, in hopes of finding better opportunities and building a brighter future for their children. Just as they were making progress, this fire has set them back in ways they could never have imagined.
Their 12-year-old, their toddler who is on the autism spectrum, and their 6-month-old were all at home during the fire. Thankfully, everyone made it out safely. However, the size of their apartment means that the impact of the damage is felt throughout their entire living space. This has made it especially difficult to maintain a sense of normalcy, particularly for their toddler, who thrives on routine and stability. The fire destroyed their kitchen appliances and groceries, leaving them without the ability to cook meals at home.
Chris and Becky have weathered many storms with little to no help, and I know they’ll face this challenge with the same strength. But they deserve a break and a safe home for their family.
I’m reaching out to our community for support to help them repair the damage to their home or assist them in finding a new space where they don’t have to worry about the lingering effects of the fire.
