Hello. My name is Amanda Ayala and I'm a 37year old quadriplegic mother of two wonderful children.
When I was 16 years old I dove off of a rock into shallow water. I broke my neck and was instantly paralyzed from my shoulders down. My 12 year old sister saved me from drowning, and that began a new chapter in my life.
Much has happened over the last twenty years. Being paralyzed and in a wheelchair has taught me a lot about life and myself.
With the help of my loving family, I finished high school through an independent studies program. I continued onto my local community college, and transferred to Sacramento State University. I graduated with my bachelors degree in Mathematics, earned my teaching credential, and I now teach full time at my local high school. The road was long and hard, but I never gave up. I love teaching teenagers, and through my example I hope to inspire them.
About a month ago, our van broke down, leaving the kids and I stranded in Los Angeles. After several little miracles and a helpful car dealer, I was able to buy a wheelchair van. After the down payment, my loan is for $41,000. The $522 monthly payment is making things difficult to afford.
This van makes it possible to go places with my family without using the bus. From trips to the grocery store, a movie, or even Disneyland. If you could help me pay for this van, it would be such a blessing in our lives!! Thank you! ❤️
