4 Wheels 4 Flood Victims Corvette Raffle To Benefit the Waverly Elementary School Library
You guys were so great, we were able to put 15 families back into vehicles in Humphreys County!!!!
As many of you know, the deadly Waverly Floods also destroyed 2 schools. In one of those schools, the literary was destroyed. In time the school will be built back but insurance will not cover some things, books among them.
In the next part of our efforts to help, we are going to raffle off a vintage 1977 Corvette, garage kept with on 53,000 miles. Proceeds will go to the Elementary School Library. The director of schools has assured us the funds will be earmarked for that cause.
Tickets will be $50 each or 3 for $100. If you purchase through Go Fund Me or Venmo, we will electronically send you a photo of your tickets. The drawing is slated for Christmas Eve to be held at the Cash Savers in Waverly. Wouldn't it be great to have this Vette in your drive way on Christmas morning?
Here is more on the fundraising for the Library for the local librarian:
For all of those who have reached out to me asking in what ways they can best support me and our library please take the time to read this post. PLEASE take the time to SHARE the link below, email it, share it in anyway you will. As the Waverly Elementary School librarian, I need this to reach as many people as it can. Even if you do not donate, I will be thankful for the share. This support is EXACTLY what I will need when it is time to rebuild our library. This. This link!!! My personal goal is to far exceed the goal!!!
The deadline for this link is December 31st of 2021

We are little over 2 months past our fatal flood. For us, we are still living it. We cannot forget. The world didn’t stop for us. In fact, it seems we were thrust into life at Mach speed and there isn’t any slowing down. We are overwhelmed. There isn’t anyone here in Humphreys County that has not on some difficult level been affected by this disaster. It is a true Hardship on EVERY school, parent, student, transportation, EVERY member of administration, faculty and staff members across the district.
I am humbled, gracious, and completely overwhelmed by the continuous outpouring of love and those who still continue to reach out to help. The calls, messages, emails… We are all grateful!!
With this being said, I am simply unable to move into this new trajectory we are facing currently without an incredible amount of stress. I have dealt with and rebuilt a library from the 2010 flood. I can say confidently, this is not the same. We are a devastated County.
My library recovery will not come until much later on when we have a brand new Waverly Elementary School. 3-5 years down the road at best. It is then that I will need donations and help. We will have long been forgotten by the outside world. That’s natural. To those who haven’t lived it or haven’t been affected, life has moved on and it seems like a tragedy from long ago. I feel like we have been left a million miles behind in just a short amount of time.
This is a direct LIVE link with my main vendor, Titlewave. They have my complete inventory and book processing specifications. Any and ALL money donated to this link will be held in my Titlewave account. The monetary donations will be used ONLY on books, audiovisual, and ebooks for my students.
If you want to help me, please… THIS is what would help me best and ease a lot of my stress.
MANY books have been graciously donated. I have sorted and distributed to grade levels Pre-K -8th grade. As much as I would love to receive all donations, we simply do NOT HAVE STORAGE SPACE. This is a major stress we face and will continue to face for quite some time.
To give you an idea of my library loved by all, it is estimated at about $1 million TOTAL loss, which includes books and audiovisual estimated at about $400,000.
We lost approximately 12,000 books and audiovisual materials in this flood.
For example, last year I purchased 121 library bound hardover books. The 121 books cost nearly $2200.
121 = $2200 (almost!)
This fundraising link is just a starting point to raise awareness. $10,000 is a great start, but it is not meant to fully recover what was lost.
At this point we have not heard what insurance is going to cover on my library.
I personally, and on behalf of
Waverly Elementary School want to thank each of you for your donations, prayers, thoughts, support.
Again, deadline for donations is December 31, 2021.
