My name is Tanya but everyone knows me as Ty. I am a daughter, a mother, a wife, and a friend. 8 years ago I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Multiple Sclerosis, or MS for short, is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system attacks and destroys myelin, a fatty substance that covers nerve fibers and that is critical for their electric function. My MS causes me to have movement problems, fatigue, chronic pain and vision problems. It has been a long, difficult, road with many unknowns. I have a beautiful 8 year old daughter, Olivia, who was diagnosed with autism several years ago. Her father passed away, unexpectedly, and I have struggled to make a life for us with the help of our family and friends. I work full time and receive treatment for my MS, and overall, things were okay, until they weren't. Recently, I discovered that the treatment I have been receiving, for 8 years, to treat my MS (a medication called Tysabri) has given me something called JC Virus. JC Virus is an infection in the brain that can lead to further disability and even death. Due to sudden health issues caused from the JC Virus, I have been off work for some time now and in and out of the hospital. I have had multiple neurologist and other doctor appointments, and I can't say they've given me much hope. Expenses, from missing work and having so many appointments, have caused my bills to pile up and I have gone from getting by, to drowning in a short period of time. Asking for help is extremely difficult for me. But, I have no other options and need help now. If you are able to, please donate.
