Organizacion Latina d Trans en Texas

The space that you know as Casa Anandrea-Oltt might have to close. This place has been in operation for one year, providing housing to more than 30 people as an emergency bed and a permanent home. Today it might have to close at the end of this month. We need $30,000.00 to renew our Rental Agreement. During Hurricane Harvey, we were the only safe space for trans and queer people, regardless of race. This space offered cleaning materials for the entire LGBTQI community, after the passage of Harvey. The hostels in the city have no capacity or are not prepared to give protection to our Trans, Queer or gender non-conforming people. This place that is run by trans Latina women has proven to be a safe place for all those homeless trans, queer and gender non-conforming people. People with HIV have been a high priority for our struggle. Out of this location, we have made 12 Name and Gender Marker changes in the State of Texas. Out of this location, we have offered direct aid to LGBTQI people who were having a hard time after Harvey, and in the following days we supported 50 LGBTQI people. Out of this location, we have held Leadership Trainings for Trans Latinas, where Program committees have been formed as well as promoted Trans leadership and empowerment in the city of Houston. Today this space is about to close, the community is part of this problem and nobody wants to do anything. I have received nothing from agencies that have profited from the trans and Queer population, but today is the time to truly be in solidarity. We are all responsible for protecting our people. And today is the opportunity. We are not going to achieve it alone, but if you are in a position to support us: the only space that works directly with people affected by all the shit of politics that continues to work, we invite you to make the change. Our website is www.latinatranstexas.org and the email address is [email redacted] telephone [phone redacted] (Spanish). Our location is: 3339 Arbor S. Houston Texas 77004. Thank you for your time and we hope to count on your support. Sincerely, Anandrea Molina. Executive Director and founder OLTT, Organizacion Latina Trans in Texas
