Help Lee Walk Again
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
Lee Allgood is a good friend of mine and has fell upon some really hard times. The reason I’m trying to raise money is because I want Lee to have the best chance at recovering the use of his lower body and be able to walk again.
Starting Nov 11th Lee woke up and could not urinate. He decided to go to the ER that night. They put in a catheter and sent him home the next day. The morning of the 13th Lee could not move his legs and by 7:00 PM it moved to his hips and lower back. Lee ended up having an anxiety attack from the shock of what’s happening. By 10:00 PM he couldn’t cough, speak loudly or even laugh. Nov 14 Lee had to call the paramedics to come get him because he could not move. 11:00AM Nov 15th he was admitted into Hillcrest hospital. The Dr’s immediately went to work and performed a spinal tap. They think at this point he has Guillain-Barré syndrome. By 4:00PM they perform a 2nd spinal tap and tell him that in his condition he will be there days to even weeks and need rehab following. By this time his arms and hands have no movement. Nov 16th spinal taps come back inconclusive of what is wrong with him. The next 3 days were filled with different tests trying to pinpoint what was going on. Nov 19th at midnight Lee was transferred to Temple Baylor Scott and White medical center where there are more specialists. Multiple Dr’s here (one thinks he has ADEM and another thinks he has MS) so they go town with tests 2-3 hour treatments to try to promote movement. By the 21st he is starting to gain movement in his upper body and hands. Nov 24th they test Lee for West Nile virus. By the 26th the hospital has moved him out of MICU and are saying he needs to work on transferring to a rehab facility. Nov 28th Lee was diagnosed with idiopathic transverse myelitis. The Dr’s say that it will be 2-3 month recovery and a rehabilitation clinic is crucial to his recovery. Do to no health insurance rehabilitation requires cash payment up front. Lee was able to come up with the money to get his foot in the door but that is it. He was transferred to Clearsky rehab in Harker Heights on Dec 11th. It is crucial that he remains in rehab for as long as possible. The cost is $8400 a week. Please find it in your heart to give Lee the chance to regain the use of his lower body through rehab. Any donation is an important one. Every day counts here.
