This is something that neither Clair or myself would ever usually do for ourselves. However we feel that we should do this in memory and behalf of our beloved son.
Our beautiful little man, Stirling Edward Petterson Young was born sleeping at 36 weeks and 3 days on Monday 30th November 2015, 2 weeks shy of his booked arrival date.
The staff at the labour ward of the Wesley Hospital Brisbane have been so compassionate and fantastic to our family during our short time there with Stirling.
And because of the kindness and generosity of another couple who 12 months ago were living the same unimagineable nightmare that we had to face on Monday, we were able to spend 3 precious days with our son.
A "Cuddle Cot" is a cooling Mat designed to fit into a small cot to allow babies who have passed away to remain with their parents in their room. This means that their babies dont have to be taken away to be kept cool in a mortuary environment.
Having access to this allowed us to spend more time with our little man. He could sleep with us, we could hold him and cuddle him for as long as we needed. Which for us has been invaluable for us to get to know our little boy. Saying goodbye to your child is hard enough, but having spent time with him made it just a little easier.
We have already donated on behalf of Stirling a Bebelicious Mosses basket and stand. However we would love to be able to donate another cuddle cot, so that other families can have extra time to help with their grieving when these hard times occur.
Again this is something that we would never usually ask, but if you can donate anything to help put towards this wonderful cause we would be forever grateful.
The machine costs about $5500 but any extra money recieved we will donate to the ward for babies clothes, teddy bears, toys, babies blankets and little angels which we recieved during our stay.
