Lisa Dienethal is a 37 year old hospice nurse, wife to Dane Dienethal and mother of two young boys. She was diagnosed with Primary Cardiac Angiosarcoma, a rare form of cancer found in the heart, and underwent her first surgical procedure for this illness in January 2014. Lisa returned to work as soon as she was able and continued to work as a PRN nurse visiting Hospice patients during much of her illness, even through chemo treatments. When she became too weak to see patients she continued to work in the office, assisting her coworkers with paperwork in anyway she could. Hospice nursing is her passion and her Gentiva Hospice coworkers are part of her extended family. She has continued to inspire us throughout her illness but right now she needs our help. She has been unable to work for the past several months due to her illness progressing. She receives all of her cancer treatments in Birmingham, a 3.5 hour drive from her home in Dothan and is currently hospitalized there following another procedure to drain fluid from her lungs.
