Ironman for Marymount Hospice & Eileen "Lall" McC

Donation protected
On May 14th 2020, our family lost our beautiful mother and adoring wife Eileen "Lall" McCarthy to cancer while in the loving care of Marymount Hospice in Cork, Ireland.

In memory of this wonderful human being and her year long battle with cancer, last October I started training to compete in "Ironman" Cozumel (Mexico) on November 21st 2021, with the intention to raise money for Marymount Hospice. Crucially l also wanted to raise awareness of facts and science behind cancer prevention - things we can ALL incorporate into our lives. Prevention is better than the cure!

An Ironman race consists of a 3.86km open water swim, a 180km bike ride and a full 42.2km marathon. For those of you who know me, I swore I would never again complete another Ironman due to the sacrifice and time commitment it requires.. but watching Mum get off the couch and walk up to 20km every day, while exhausted from chemotherapy, has inspired me to do the same..

Please spread this page and let's raise some well needed funds for Marymount Hospice and also help spread the science behind cancer prevention.

This is for you Mum xx
