A Future for Emily
Donation protected
My name is Patty and I am fundraising for a special lady whose family has suffered an unspeakable tragedy. Emily-Jane McDonah is a mother, grandmother, and friend who gives tirelessly to her family and community.
On April 19th, Grandmother Emily-Jane, arrived home bringing medication to her very sick daughter-in-law, who was caring for her 6 month old, 22 month old, and 3 year old daughters. Unfortunately, Emily-Jane found her sweet namesake, 22 month old Emily Rose, in the family pool. Surveillance cameras on the property showed the two older girls had wiggled her way through a barrier and locked door to reach the family pool.
Emily Rose was able to be revived and is currently in a rehab facility while her family is training to manage her trach and G-tube care. Although her prognosis is uncertain, she has made great progress. She was able to wean off the ventilator and is spontaneously opening her eyes.
The recreation community of Red Bug park, where Emily-Jane is the director, has quickly and generously responded to help with the family’s immediate financial crisis, while waiting to determine the long-term needs. The medical staff has, now, determined that physical, occupational, and speech therapy will be needed for Emily Rose and mental health services for the family. She will, also, need a special wheelchair and daily supplies of dressings for her trach and G-tube. Her trach care requires a suction machine and catheters. Her G-tube will need syringes and special formulas.
We are, now, reaching out to our extended community to help with the services recommended for Emily Rose’s care and future. Thank you, in advance, for your donations and prayers for this family.
