My Father’s name is Conrado Assales. He is  known to most  of his friends as Saeed, which means 'happy' in Arabic. He was born and grew up in the city of Cordoba, Argentina but in the mid 1980’s he settled in Belize and made it his home.  He has worked all his life with his hands; farming and building bamboo furniture and he took many Belizean under his wings, young and old, teaching them his skills.  When we were children always he told us never to do anything unless it sparked a joy in our hearts. He has always been a dynamic father whom we love and admire  greatly!

We never imagined that we'd have to say this, but our father is now gravely ill and this is extremely devastating for all of us. Over the past few months we have been desperate to get a diagnosis, taking him all over the country to different doctors; doing many tests, and spending a lot of money getting contradictory advice.  After exploring so many options we took him to a liver specialist who took a MRI, numerous blood tests, and a biopsy on his liver. Finally we were able to get a definitive diagnosis that we had been so desperately searching for:  Our father has  LIVER CANCER. Thankfully it is curable and and we are now on a mission to help him in his journey.

To get to this point we, his children, have exhausted much of our funds. The  bills have now accumulated and are weighing heavily on all of us, making further financing for our dad's medical care very difficult.  Desperate to get the appropriate and effective care and treatment for him, we are now humbly asking you,  our friends and family, for help.  We will need to take him to Argentina for cancer treatment, as there is nothing more than can be done for him in Belize.

Despite how sad we feel about our father's illness, we feel very lucky to be able to say that it's something that can be treated. He has remained optimistic and is very positive about his situation, so we're focused on the silver linings and we ask that  if you are able to give absolutely ANY amount  to help cover the medical costs and expenses, that you kindly consider helping us. We know that with everything happening in the world right now, there is still kindness going around and we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
