Hi, my name is Amy. I am a Colorado native. I have a daughter. I love spending time with her, my friends and all animals. I like being creative, watching movies and volunteering in my community. In 2025, I was diagnosed with invasive mammary carcinoma, commonly known as metastatic breast cancer. In addition to having a mass in my breast, there is also an impacted lymph node. Biopsy results concluded that there are two types of cancer in these areas. This diagnosis was unexpected and has been very difficult for me and my family.

I am in treatment, having received chemotherapy infusions weekly, then surgery to remove the tumor and impacted lymph nodes. Next up, i will undergo radiation and hormone therapy. This will be a long treatment process of more than 18 months (and that's if everything goes well).

It will be a long road to recovery. This has left me unable to work and we are dependent on a single income to pay bills and sizable medical costs.

Even with an out-of-pocket max deductible of $10,000 - that only includes what the insurance company is willing to cover, many charges or treatments are deemed "not medically necessary " by insurance, even when oncologists have ordered them. The cost of my cancer treatment in 2025 was $158,678.81. With insurance, that came down to $59,686.52. I am responsible for $16,718.93. And that is just for 2025.
