Marine in Need: Fire takes all but Family
My friend and former coworker/partner, Jeff Belanger wrote early this morning:
=== “Sometimes I take for granted how lucky I am. Last night my wife called me while I was driving home and told me our house had caught on fire. I thought her and the kids were still inside and that was the most scared and helpless I’ve ever been. I would have given anything to be there instead of them. When I pulled up to the front and saw them outside, I didn’t care that my house was burning down, only that the people I love more than anything were ok. Every single thing in that house can be replaced but I wouldn’t have anything if I lost them.” ===
Jeff is an amazing guy with a HUGE heart and a great perspective in the midst of a daunting circumstance. With two young children at home, he and his equally amazing wife, Olga, (who was able to get the family to safety) seem to have their immediate needs taken care of with friends and family rushing to support them in/around Amarillo. But it seems their home and everything in it was a loss. He hasn’t asked for this, and he probably never would but his family are due for a pick-me-up/shoulder to lean on. Their two kids could use a boost for their spirits this Christmas.
If I were still in Texas, this is a guy I would run from Dallas to Amarillo to help, and I HATE running! Please consider Jeff’s first reaction to seeing his house go up in flames, he was grateful. Grateful that the people he loved were safe. Please consider what you have to be thankful for and I would love it if you could show this amazing family one more thing for which they can be thankful. Consider a gift to help this family through a dark moment during this holiday season.
