For those of you who know me well, know it is not in my character to ask for help. I don’t take charity, pity, or handouts well.. I get that from my dad. But it’s been a very long couple of weeks and my two aunts and I have exhausted all of our own money and resources. So sucking in all of my pride, I desperately turn to my friends and family in this time of need. It hasn’t been talked about publicly because I know my father wouldn’t want pity. But for me to save him, for me to ask for help, y’all need to know the story. My father has been ill for quite some time now. Living on his own in North Dakota with COPD, severe arthritis all over his body, stomach ulcers, etc.. for a while it was manageable. That is no longer the case. He has been more sick than I was told for some time now. About 3 weeks ago I received a phone call I wish upon no one. I received a call from my dad’s landlord and friend telling me my father was extremely ill, unable to get out of bed, and that I should get on the next flight out. My heart immediately shattered but my brain went into fight mode. I am not ready and refuse to be ready to lose my father right now. I called my two aunts immediately knowing they were the only two who were going to help me and my dad. We got him to the hospital in North Dakota the next day and he has been in the hospital since that day. He now has pneumonia and is extremely malnourished on top of all of his other problems. It’s hard for him to eat, breathe, talk. My dad is dying in North Dakota and that’s just the honest truth. He is out there suffering because he has no support and no one to help take care of him. If we do not get him home to Rhode Island where he can be monitored and properly cared for, he will die. The cost of his flight alone was insane and now we need to also pay for on flight oxygen that will last for his entire journey, as well as assistance getting him through all the airports he will have to travel through to get home. Once we get him to Rhode Island he will need further medical attention ASAP. I am beyond desperate and BEG my friends and family to donate anything you can to help me save my dad. Any little bit will help. Time is of the essence. If you are not in a position to donate, I ask for prayers. Thank you all in advance.
