4th of July Birthday Fundraiser for Sarah-Rae
For my 25th Birthday this year I have decided to host a 4th of July themed birthday party at our home. I will be using this as an opportunity to raise much-needed funds for my cousin, Sarah-Rae who requires intensive surgery. Sarah-Rae lives in California, USA and has a number of rare conditions including:
- Endometriosis
- Adenomyosis
- Ashermann's Syndrome
- Ovarian Cysts
- Intercystial Cystitis
- Fibroid Tumors
The history: Sarah-Rae first became sick in November of 1999. For the next year, she experienced daily pain, episodes of hemorrhaging, and multiple hospital visits. In 2001, she began an 8-year journey of failed medication trials that left her badly heartbroken, and lifelong side effects, including contributing to infertility. She also underwent 3 failed surgeries that included an average of 6 procedures per operation. For 10 years, she battled insurance companies, medical teams, and her own body.
In December 2009 she underwent a progressive surgical procedure, which put her symptoms into a dormant, or remission status for 7 years however in recent years her symptoms have peaked once again. There is now urgency to treat her symptoms, as there is concern that the endometriosis has once again spread to other organ systems, and is causing her daily pain, and can become very serious if left untreated.
The surgery is complex, and consists of several procedures. The total amount needed to pay currently is $25,000 USD (approximately $35,900 AUD) and it is expected that this cost will significantly increase if she is required to stay in hospital for more than 1 day (which is more than likely).
Please join me on the 4th of July to celebrate my 25th birthday, as well as American Independence Day and help me in raising funds for an incredible young woman, a Clinical Psychologist who supports Veterans and active duty military to deal with trauma and physical injury.
DATE: Saturday, the 4th of July at 12:00pm Australian Western Standard Time.
COST: $30 per person (free for kids 12 years old and under).
