In 2021, Bethany Holt decided to throw a summer block party for the Jeffries Ave/Idell Street neighborhood. It grew each year and has become a beloved tradition full of music, crafts, dancing, bounce houses, water balloons, food, and friendship. As many of you know, Bethany passed away in March this year after a tragic battle with breast cancer. She selflessly planned and paid for this event for years despite her cancer battle because she wanted to foster our community and create memories for her three children and the children and families of Jeffries/Idell. We—her family, friends, and neighbors—are continuing the tradition in her honor. Please help us fundraise if you can, so we can host this event that was near and dear to her heart. Your donation will help us pay for the city permit to close the street and rent/buy the needed supplies, such as canopies, chairs, bounce house, food, drinks, etc. The suggested donation per household is $40, but the event will be free for all regardless of whether you donate. While we don’t anticipate raising more than our estimated need of $2,500, if we do, we will expand this year’s offerings and/or save any excess for next year’s party.
