Please help!

I am an 84 year old, ex high school teacher. I have had many thousands of student/friends over the years. I trusted a longtime friend/student who ended up taking advantage of me, leaving me without money or a secure future.

I have been living on my small savings for two years and it’s almost gone.

Very soon  I’m going to be HOMELESS because housing is in a

crisis in my city right now and there are no affordable places to rent, especially low income housing or Section 8.

   ◦    Section 8 is closed now. For two years. So I am unfortunately having to ask for help. 

   ◦    What I need is  enough money to stay in this apartment - until I can get into low income housing. I am on waiting lists everywhere but they are long.

   I am in the process of applying for help now with the Department of Aging. I currently require $2,500 a month to meet my expenses ( Rent, Medical and Utilities).

    My retirement is very small because I had to resign my teaching career and care for my mother halfway through my career. After she passed away,

I began teaching again but now have a much smaller STRS (teacher’s)retirement.

Teachers in California are allowed no Social Security. Rent plus expenses is overwhelming.

       I am praying that you will help me. I have no family; all my best friends have died and I am on my own. I am old now and have mobility problems and don’t want to live much longer. I am looking forward to that mansion in the sky that is rent free.
