It’s been a difficult day. The adrenaline that has been coursing through my body since 4:30 this afternoon is subsiding. I am physically, mentally, and emotionally crashing. So are the kids. It’s quiet now, but it wasn’t for so many hours.

This is the Sparty 5K pre-race photo. We didn’t get a post-race photo. Upon completing the race, David collapsed. His heart stopped for nearly 10 minutes. It felt like eternity. The kids and I sat in a heap sobbing and crying out to God to spare the life of the man who is our entire world.

God answered our pleas for help. After compressions and one shock, his heart restarted. They were able to load him into the ambulance and get him to the hospital. By the time we got there, he was alert and responding to questions. We are praising God for his mercy today!

We are eternally grateful to the folks who surrounded David immediately and began to take care of him. For the folks with medical training who knew what to do in each moment. For the person(s) performing CPR. For the first responders. For everyone who surrounded the kids and me in love and prayers. For the folks who gathered in groups to lift prayers on David’s behalf as he was being cared for. For our church family and friends for making sure everything was taken care of as we rushed to be with David. For the ER doctors and nurses. For the flight crew. God was in every moment. Praise him!

David is resting well tonight. We hope to learn more details tomorrow. Please keep him in your prayers .

Hug your loved ones and make sure they know how much you love them every day. And put your faith in Jesus Christ. Our personal relationship with him is what gave us the strength to find our way through this day. Don’t walk a day on this earth without him. He will supply you with strength and a peace that passes all understanding. Even in your darkest moment.
