This is my baby Milo. He is a 3 year old Australian Shepherd Mix. He came into my life when he was 12 weeks old. He was quite the trouble maker, yet the cutest bundle of joy. By the time he was 5 months old he was packing up his stuff and heading off to college with me. Milo has been there through every exam, every stressful day, and every accomplishment I have made. He has been my constant companion since the day he entered into my life and I love him more than anything. I love to spoil him with treats and new toys constantly. I love watching his determination every time he pulls a squeaker out of a toy. Milo is the sweetest dog in the world, he is shy and cautious but ultimately loves other dogs and people. I want to give him the best life he could possibly have. He is truly the dog that is just happy to be alive and puts a smile on everyones face. I want to be able to do everything I can for him because he has done more than he'll ever know for me.

On Saturday June 6th, he became very sick within a matter of hours. He is usually very high energy, bouncing off the walls and tearing up toys. I noticed he was standing as still as a statue and heavily panting. His gums were white and he was unable to walk up or down the stairs which is not normal so I immediately took him to the emergency room. Once we arrived, due to covid-19 I was not allowed to be with him, but he was taken to be examined. They put him on an IV, did some blood work and took an x-ray. It showed that he had a high white blood cell count, there was fluid in his abdomen, and he had a mass on his spleen. The mass could either be a tumor or a hematoma. The doctors were unable to take a sample of the fluid in his abdomen so the only way to determine what the mass is is for him to have surgery the afternoon of June 7th. He had his spleen removed and biopsied. The results came back as splenic stromal sarcoma, a very rare cancer especially in a three year old dog. Going forward we will be having more tests done to figure out if he is cancer free or not and we will go from there.

Milo has never had a health problem and I'm sure he's terrified and in pain, but I know he was in the best care he could possibly be in. I want nothing more than for my baby boy to be okay. He is only 3, there is so much of his life left for him to live and I want him to be able to live it to the fullest. I am a college student who has been affected by the covid-19 pandemic and need all the help I can get. All donations will go towards his surgery and any other medical bills going forward. Anything at all will help. Milo means the world to me, please help me help him.
