On Monday, October 12th 2015, Tom Beran was involved in a very serious accident while on his land up north. Tom's tree stand collapsed, and landed on top of him, crushing him from the shoulders down. Tom sustained many injuries, the most impactive being severe spinal cord trauma.  His critical condition caused him to be flown by flight for life to a nearby hospital, where he has resided in ICU since the accident. He is surrounded by family and has already made progression towards his recovery.

The severity of Tom's injuries will result in the loss of his job as a driver for a local freight carrier. Though he is already fighting an epic battle, Tom will also need long term inpatient rehabilitation, at which some point, his health insurance will have lapsed. The family will also need to renovate their home to make it wheelchair accessible, as well as obtain a car for means of wheelchair transportation.
