Little Warrior Genesis-Liam

Genesis-Liam: a little warrior who is fighting the toughest battle, to overcome the odds, and beat cancer.

 
In January 2018, Daisy and Gabe became proud parents of an extraordinary baby boy, Genesis-Liam. Genesis-Liam was healthy thriving baby. He was dancing before he was sitting, he was potty trained before he was walking, and when he was supposed to walk he was running. He continues to flourish and grow with the help and love of his family.


In the beginning of July, Genesis-Liam was experiencing vomiting, nausea, and had little energy. After he would eat his food, he would feel nauseous and vomit. Doctors thought he had the stomach flu, then to an ear infection, but never wanted to run any tests.


On August 2nd, 2019, an unforgettable day, Genesis-Liam had his first seizure at only 18 months old. Genesis-Liam was admitted to CHOC Children’s Hospital, where doctors kept trying to determine the cause of the seizure. After a many tests, CT scan, and an MRI, a tumor was found on the left side of his brain. Immediately, once the doctor found the tumor, Genesis-Liam went into brain surgery. Due to where the tumor was located, it affected his right eye sight, because the tumor was pressuring the brain and causing headaches. Their little boy, who hadn’t even celebrated his 2nd birthday, is now in the fight for his life.

 
The tumor was surgically removed and his parents received the devastating news the tumor was cancerous. Genesis-Liam has been diagnosed with a rare cancer, known as Anaplastic Ependymoma Grade III; the tumor can be caused from the cells that line the ventricle. The tumor creates the baby to be aggressive. He will require radiation therapy; this treatment will take six weeks everyday Monday through Friday. On top of that, Genesis-Liam needs to take his seizure medicine everyday for the rest of his life. For further research and treatment, he will be getting MRI exams every three months.  

 
Following his immediate surgery, Genesis-Liam continues to gain strength each and every day. His mother Daisy is a committed teacher, who dedicated her life to inspire and encourage kids, and now she needs our help, fighting for her son’s life. She is already doing everything in her power to make that happen. Handling all of these costs out of pocket, unable to work, researching treatment options, driving to doctor’s appointments, and of course, being an amazing mom to Genesis-Liam.
