Hi friends,
We cannot express enough gratitude for the amazing support you have given us so far. Thanks to your generosity, we have raised $2549 towards our goal of $6000. However, we still need your help to reach our target. The deadline is fast approaching on March 1st, 2023 and every little bit counts. Please consider making a donation and sharing this with your network to help us achieve our goal. Thank you!
I'm launching this campaign on behalf of my mom, Elena, a Ukrainian refugee currently residing in Bulgaria. My mom left Ukraine in April 2022 with hopes to be able to come to the US to live with me while we are living through a horrific crisis in my homeland country. She is also in recovery after a major artery replacement surgery that had complications and requires several medications on daily basis.
We have applied for Humanitarian Parole under a program Uniting for Ukraine. Initially, we applied in May and her entry was denied without explanation, the attorney assumed it was due to the lack of paperwork. We collected additional paperwork and re-applied again in August. The application got lost in the system and instead of taking a few weeks, it turned into a few months.
We received the answer from USCIS last Wednesday, January 18th - denied again, with no explanation.
We are infinitely grateful for the unbelievably kind woman who housed my mom for the last 8.5 months. However, it has been a very long time and we have to adapt to the new situation that requires financial means to continue staying either in Bulgaria or seek another country that can allow her to stay safe while we take action to resolve our immigration case here in The US. This process may take up to 6-12 months and attorney fees.
It is, for this reason, I ask for your help to support my mom's staying out of Ukraine either until it is safe to return or the resolution of the immigration case to the US, whichever is sooner.
Thank you very much for your consideration. Any amount you can contribute is greatly appreciated!
