Hello, my name is Stephanie, I have a loving fiance and 2 beautiful little girls aged 3 and almost 2 and I am 31 years old.
On December 17th 2024 at 29 years old after months of back and forth to the doctors I went in with the worst stomach pains, vomitting and feeling faint, after they finally did a CT scan it revealed I had colon cancer, and needed emergency surgery that night followed by more scans.
Once the other scans were completed my diagnosis was stage 4 colon cancer with 1 single metastasis (mets) to my left lung and innunerable mets to my liver.
I have since had rounds of chemo, 2 surgeries to remove a large portion of my liver and an unsuccessful lung surgery.
The hope was to have an extensive surgery that would remove my left lung however at the begining of march I had a bone scan that showed that there is now a mass on my Iliac bone (pelvis) assumption is this happened while I was off chemotherapy to prepare for surgeries.
now that my cancer has spread to my bone, I am now incurable and will be on chemotherapy for the rest of my life and the plan is to get 5 sessions of radiation for now.
My life expectancy is unknown, I was told could be less than 2 years or more than 20 it is all variable on how my cancer continues to respond to chemotherapy, and clinical trial drugs.
My fiance who has been there through everything with me has used his vacation days, sick days and personal days, to bring me to appointments, stay with me during surgery ect. Due to my on going appointments back and forth to Ottawa, extra childcare for our 2 little girls, assistance around the house, and other expenses cause by my diagnosis we are reaching out to the community for assistance.
Though my prognosis is terrifying I am staying very positive, and doing everything I can when I can.
I am grateful to have a supporting husband, 2 beautiful little girls, friends, family and inlaws who all support me durring this time.
