Fundraising for Maria Simmons

Donation protected
On May 20th, 2013 our dear friend Maria Simmons, age 37 became suddenly and seriously ill. She suffered from brain inflammation and lesions which affected the left side of her body. It resulted in impaired speech, memory loss and loss of vision. Over the past five months she has been treated at three hospitals, one rehabilitation center and most recently, four days a week of outpatient therapy in Quincy. She has had numerous MRIs, CT scans and spinal taps hoping to find out what caused this terrible illness to Maria. Unfortunately, even with the best doctors in Boston Maria is still "undiagnosed" at this time. She is at home living in Hanson with the steadfast support of her parents, family and friends. Maria's parents have been by her side from day one and will continue to assist her in adapting to a new way of life. At this time, the doctors cannot confirm the level of recovery Maria will reach. She has shown improvement with her left side and as well as her speech from the extensive PT she is currently undergoing. Her vision has shown some improvement, but not fully and that depends on the inflammation of the brain.
Maria's willingness to help anyone in need touches the lives of everyone blessed to have met her. Along with her compassionate nature, she uplifts our spirits with her impeccable comedic timing resulting in gut busting laughter. Maria's presence can light up a room and her smile always brings cheer. She worked a full time job on top of writing screen plays, performing in Improv shows, and taking enrichment classes at Harvard. Maria is the Founder and Director of Improv-Ed where she was instructing Laughter Yoga in 2012.

Friends of Maria are asking you to consider a donation on Maria's behalf in any dollar amount. We are hoping to raise money for bills and her current way of life. We will be having a Silent Auction Fundraiser for Maria as well in March 2014 and will announce those details after the Holidays.
