Surgery expenses
2020 has been a hard year for many families,
I know this year has been especially hard for mine.
Amongst the virus, the economic crisis, and never ending pandemic, my daughter Rachel has experienced a medical crisis and we are asking for help to meet the need for surgery costs. Rachel has a 4 cm stone in her salivary gland that has depleted the gland, and created a mass/tumor near her throat. This causes her severepain and needs to be removed immediately. This has gone on for almost 6 months and the growth has not stopped.
The doctor has her scheduled for a surgery this coming Thursday 8/27- however due to her insurance she has been asked to pay all surgerycenter fees and doctor costs up front since she has yet to meet her insurance deductible. The doctors fee is $471 and the surgery center fee is $1,187.
The surgical procedure is called a “Submandibular Gland Excision” where they will remove the gland, stone and tumor from her neck. This will result in a 5-6” incision, and a 6-8 week recovery period, as long as the final biopsy of the tumor comes back benign.
Rachel was laid offduring the pandemic and financially is still recovering from the loss of income. While she has found a job to pay her living expenses, emergency medical expenses simply do not fit into her budget as a single mother. And as her mother, I can only do so much.
Prayers are welcome, and donations are appreciated beyond words.
