On September 29, 2015 our dad, Steve Floyd, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia or ALL. When we found out it really did feel as if our world had been shattered and the first few weeks were torture...not knowing the severity of his cancer, not knowing if his life now had a time limit, not knowing what now was in store for our future. Each variation of cancer is different and we learned that finding out about his cancer when we did was truly a blessing in disguise. We were told that if three more weeks had passed without a diagnosis, my dad would have been dead because of the aggressive nature of his ALL.
It has now been almost three months since his diagnosis and it has quite honestly been the hardest thing we have ever gone through as a family. The ups and downs through this journey have pushed me to breaking points that I never knew were possible, but seeing my dad's strength through this trial is what keeps me going. Situations such as these put into perspective the things that truly matter in life. The love that has been shown to us has been so incredible I can't even begin to put it into words. But unfortunately, bills pile up, and while he does have great insurance, there will still be many hospital, treatment, and travel fees that will need to be paid for out of pocket. On top of that, my dad will be leaving for Salt Lake City, Utah in March to recieve a bone marrow transplant and so much is still unknown, including the cost of this trip. He will be in Salt Lake anywhere from 3-5 months depending on how he responds, but he's not giving up!
Hunter and I had the idea to raise this money to take away this added burden hopefully by Christmas, but here's the catch...we want this to be a surprise! We want to see the look on his face when he realizes how many people love him and want to help him in any way they can. To be able to earn this money would be the ULTIMATE gift. Our dad is a very humble man and he does not like asking for help unless he absolutely must. But this is one of those situations that Hunter and I wanted to take into our own hands and change in the best possible way we know how.
Please help us make this the perfect Christmas and the perfect start to 2016 by donating ANY amount you can, large or small, or even just sharing it with ANYONE you can to help us get the word out about our ultimate gift. Thank you for reading and again, share, share, share this with as many people as you possibly can...God Bless!!!!
