Miller Ezell - Semester at Sea

Donation protected
My name is Miller Ezell and I'm a soon-to-be-graduating Senior at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau, Louisiana.

As a Senior your entire school year is filled with thoughts of, questions about and decisions for your future, all based upon one topic: COLLEGE!

All of my classmates had a plan. Each of them seemed to have some idea of where they wanted to go, of what they wanted to do and of who they wanted to be. And it all was so…so...well, it was all so decided. And, while I smiled along and was planning on following my friends, I was anxious and uncertain because I had no clear vision of my future or who I wished to be.

My mother, ever wise, could sense my distress and came the rescue (as always!) suggesting an alternative route. It was her idea that perhaps I should take a year off to find out who I was and where I could see myself in the world. And what better way to do that, she asked, than to travel it? So we set about looking at how I might start this path to personal awareness and growth. Through our research and much reading we discovered a program called Semester @ Sea that was totally different than anything I had considered before. This program is unique in that I would be able to not only travel to 11 different countries but I would also be able to accomplish course work while participating! After a lot of diligence and a careful thought, I applied and was accepted; I am so excited that this is how I will begin my college career!

So, to that end, I am sending this explanation of my future first-step to ask for something a bit different. Having watched my sister receive so many thoughtful gifts honoring the accomplishment of graduation to help in her transition, I know I would be excited to receive the same. But, in being practical, I know that I will not be able to put some of those things to use for several semesters. While I plan to work all summer to save for expenses, I would appreciate the consideration of a small donation to this Go Fund Me page in lieu of a gift. This will assist me in being able to explore the world and learn more about myself during my time on board the MV World Odyssey.

It is my hope that while I'm on this incredible 4 month journey I will be able to gain an in-depth knowledge about all different walks of life and cultures. I intend to discover something I can focus my life around and help navigate my future career path. Thank you so much for taking the time to read about me and my plans. I look forward to updating you all on my journey!
