My name is Sara Izquierdo and I am the Executive Director of The Mobile Migrant Health Team (MMHT). We are reaching out with hopeful hearts to ask for your support for a young family going through the fight of their lives.

Sergio and Mari have been together for nearly six years and are the proud, loving parents of two beautiful children — including their youngest, an 11-month-old baby. They are a family rooted in deep love, faith, and resilience. But right now, they are facing a heartbreaking challenge.

Sergio has been battling kidney failure for the past five years. He undergoes dialysis three times a week, a grueling routine that keeps him alive but takes a major toll on his body. Through it all, he has continued to show up for his family — working as much as his treatment schedule allows, and being a present, devoted father and partner.

Now, after years of waiting, Sergio is finally on the transplant list — but there’s a catch.

Before he can be fully considered for a kidney transplant, Sergio must raise funds to cover his post-surgery costs. These include the expensive anti-rejection medications, medical monitoring, and transportation needed for frequent follow-up appointments.

These costs are non-negotiable — they are essential to proving that Sergio can properly care for the organ and stay healthy after surgery. Without this financial security in place, he may not be approved for the transplant that could save his life.

Mari has stood by Sergio’s side every step of the way — through the diagnosis, the dialysis, and the countless sacrifices this journey has demanded. She has taken on the weight of supporting their family, emotionally and financially, as they navigate life with two small children and a future that feels uncertain. But they can’t do this alone.
