Jeremy's Cancer Journey

My dad Jeremy has been battling multiple myeloma cancer since 2010. From then until now he has received a stem cell transplant as well as many different chemo therapies to fight the cancer off. For the most part his cancer has remained at bay with those treatments until this past summer.
What had been working was starting to lose its effectiveness against the cancer. Jeremy's numbers continued to raise rapidly through September. He received intense chemo to lower his cancer in hopes to receive another stem cell transplant. Unfortunately, from the high dose chemo dad developed pneumonia from his weakened immune system. He spent more time in the hospital fighting infections and illnesses rather than being home.
When the time came to consult with the stem cell transplant doctor it was evident to that doctor that dad was in no shape to receive a stem cell transplant at that time due to his health. We were blind-sided with his recommendation for hospice.
Devastatingly, dad started on hospice that day (1/12/18) in hopes to become comfortable and pain free. After a few days of spending time with family and loved ones we were blind-sided once again by finding out he had no insurance coverage for hospice.
There were many prayers to God for a plan of action. What were we to do now? Our prayers were answered when he has able to have an appointment at MD Anderson cancer center in Houston, TX.
Jeremy is currently at MD Anderson receiving radiation treatment. He just got over the flu this past week and has been fighting hard for more time against this battle. The doctors there are wanting to start high dose chemo again because of the cancers rapidness. They are going to do a procedure tomorrow to make sure he is infection free before starting chemotherapy. The risk of him starting chemo and having an infection is deadly.
The past few months have been a rollercoaster and the days ahead of us are scary and unknown. As of right now we are unsure how long dad will have to stay in Houston for treatment or what effect the treatments may have on him. It has been strenuous because we live here in Kansas and all of his family not able to be there to support him.
It is hard asking for financial support during this time, as we are unsure how much all of the hospice and medical bills will total to be.

If dad would want one thing, it would be for prayer. Prayer is most powerful!
