I would like to share a little story I think all will be interested in. There is an old proverb that says. ‘It takes a village to raise a child.” I have been blessed with a great family and support system in the efforts of raising my daughter Angela Rose Syzdek. Many of you know of her from my numerous posts on Facebook or from ODC softball, or maybe from school functions, and some have had the pleasure of spending time with her. For those of you that have met Angela you know firsthand that she is the sweetest, smartest little angel to walk the earth.
The reason I am putting this in a letter is to humble myself and call upon your help for Angela’s sake. I was involved in an abusive marriage for a brief amount of time. Fortunately I was blessed with a wonderful little girl in the process. To prevent my daughter from having to grow up in a house where there was domestic violence I gave up my marriage through divorce. I have fought long and hard for custodial rights. Due to some good advice, a lot of support, and money I was able to secure custody and become Angela’s sole managing conservator.
Unfortunately, I have been trying to work within an already difficult family law system and have spent the past 3 years in family law court. The system has consistently allowed my ex-wife the benefit of the doubt which has allowed her to stall and postpone court dates. I have borrowed a lot of money, and called in a lot of favors to help me handle these court proceedings. It is essential that I never give up this fight for Angela’s wellbeing because you cannot put a dollar amount on a child’s life and all children are worth saving. The court system isn’t much help because they are reactive and not proactive. Within the parameters of the law, the abuse has to happen before law enforcement will act upon the abuser.
I have recently obtained a job that will provide me with a great career but I am finding it hard to make ends meet and giving Angela a fulfilling childhood do to lawyer’s bills and loans I have to repay. I am currently living in a RV trailer in a family member’s back yard so I can pay off court proceedings and fees. I honestly don’t take a lot of pride in asking for money but I have borrowed my last dollar and I am finically stricken. If I can get some relieve from the court fees then I can at least provide better arrangements for Angela.
My goal is to follow through and provide a “safe house for Angela Rose.” Please, look into your heart and if you are willing, please send a donation and your prayers. I cannot stress enough on how no donation is too small because costs have reach up to $15,000. Once our goal is met the site will be removed. Please feel free to share this among people you know and trust. Thank you in advance for your help and prayers.
