Part of the experience of Four Quarters is seeing what's new each year. Roads, buildings, landscaping and more. In 2015 Four Quarters purchased New Camp and has been working ever since to make this land available for regular use. Scrub land was replanted in pasture, slowly roads have gone in, and last fall the beginnings of a deep well water system like we have in Main Camp.
One of the greatest joys of Four Quarters is that "A River Runs Through It." But global climate change has brought with it increased water levels in our river. Fifteen years ago places where we could reliably walk across on stones are now reliably underwater! If you haven't noticed, with climate change the weather has gotten weird & sometimes unpredictable. So this past fall we made the call and urged that the bridge be built now! Four Quarters went to the bank, borrowed a large sum and began building in the fall of 2018 in order to open the bridge in time for both WickerMan and Big Dub 2019. And guess what, looks like they have pulled it off!
For Big Dub the creative possibilities are endless and the practical implications important; with reduced road wear, easy access to the Old Forest Stage, expanded campsite choices, elimination of most shuttle traffic, new stage locations and easy access to the amenities of Main Camp and the wonders of New Camp for everyone. With a walk from New Camp to the Coffee Dragons now no further than a walk to Main Parking! Not to mention a stunning walk through the tree tops!
Building a bridge is a lot of work and even more money. Engineering a project like this along with properly securing it to handle the load is a very expensive project that far exceeds any revenues. While a loan has been secured, Four Quarters truly needs our help in funding the bridge project overall which will also help to finalize the entire project sooner.
