First and foremost I would like to wish my mother a Happy Birthday! The purpose of this campaign is to attempt to give her the best birthday gift I could imagine for her--to save her dream! For the last two years she has owned and operated Burgitto Bistro in the small town of Morrow, Ohio. I have always known my mom to be savvy and someone to not take no for an answer, she managed to turn her food truck into a successful restaurant, but there’s only one problem. To achieve her dream, two years ago, she had to have a building to run the restaurant out of, as getting a bank loan was not, and still is not an option, she purchased the building on Land Contract and has until December 30th to pay off the remainder of the $150,000 balance.
At Burgitto Bistro, we are known for what is called the Burgitto (like burger and burrito combined into one!). In order to make a Burgitto, we use a flour tortilla rather than a bun and create sandwiches with unique toppings for all different interests! This creates the best type of portable sandwich, your toppings won’t fall out and the center stays warm for much longer than a normal burger!
When I was seven and my sister was nine months old, my father passed away, our mom taught us to be strong and to work hard, but also to be kind. She raised us on her own and always put us first, if I could afford to save her business, I would, but unfortunately I cannot do it on my own, which is why I’m calling on all of the fans of the burgitto, anyone who would like to support a small family run business, and any random do gooders out there that can help us save this awesome restaurant for my awesome mom!
Like many other businesses, we have been affected by the ongoing pandemic, our indoor seating has been closed since March and our sales have remained close to what they were before, but it is not quite enough. In addition to having to close the dining room during the pandemic, we had to close down for three days, due to my mother requiring knee surgery! Even with the financial burden of the business, my mother has taken on a few more rescue pets during this time, including two of the tiniest puppies I’ve ever seen, weighing less than a pound and an 80 pound American Bulldog, her love for animals is unwavering and will help them regardless of her financial state.
I am asking for help to reach our goal of raising $87,500 in order to purchase the building where our restaurant is located, freeing up money to be able to do more for the community, prepare our inside space to be safe and ready for dine-in, and allow us the potential to be able to expand! The Burgitto is an amazing and unique concept that deserves to thrive and be shared with the world; I implore you to help keep this family run Bistro afloat. Please share on Facebook!
