4plus4 MUSIC-DANCE

Welcome to 4plus4 Music-Dance Improvisation Project. We are a performing arts collaboration of eight local career music and dance professionals; educators, therapists, professional musicians, and choreographers. For this event, we will explore a non-fixed performance consisting of music-dance improvisational interplay using post-modern jazz and dance vocabulary. Four musicians and four movement artists create improvised aural-visual compositions in real-time. We will feature varying combinations of music-dance performers, i.e., duo, trio, quartet, and complete ensemble.

We seek funding to stage this performance that features our music/dance improvisational interplay. Performance date is Saturday January 28, 2023, 7-830pm at CREATE Center for the Arts, 73600 Alessandro Dr. in Palm Desert, California. Tickets are $12 and can be reserved through CREATE Center for the Arts website. Donations of $25 or more receive free admission to the performance. All funding will be distributed equally among the 8 dance and music artists professionals for 2 rehearsals, and 1 performance.

This performance is open to the public and is associated with MindingMusic–MusicTherapy community wellness. We will request self-reported feedback from audience members. We are interested in how an event of this nature impacts community/audience members; positive, neutral, negative, etc.

It is important to us as performing artists to explore and expand our individual artistic abilities. We believe performing art events brings community together and can awaken greater imaginative regions of the whole person for performers and attendees.
