Dear friends and family,
As many of you know, our beloved Mia has been struggling with severe chronic back pain for a long time, caused by four discs in her lower back that were bone on bone, along with scoliosis. After exhausting all other treatment options, Mia underwent two major surgeries in September in the hopes of finding relief and restoring her health.
The first surgery, on September 4th, was to insert spacers between the discs in her back, preparing her body for the second surgery. When Mia woke up from the first procedure, the nurses asked her to wiggle her toes, but she could only move one foot. She quickly realized that something was terribly wrong—she had lost feeling in her left leg. Despite this, the medical team proceeded with the second surgery on September 11th, which involved inserting metal rods to stabilize her spine.
While the second surgery was successful in eliminating her chronic back pain, it did not restore sensation or function to her left leg. Tragically, Mia is now paralyzed from the waist down on her left side.
Those who know Mia understand how active she was. She loved walking, whether it was for exercise or simply commuting to work. Now, she faces a completely new reality, one that comes with physical, emotional, and financial challenges. With mounting medical bills, ongoing therapy, and the uncertainty of when she will be able to return to work, Mia needs our support more than ever.
We are setting up the Mia Fund to help her with medical expenses, rent, daily living costs, and anything else she might need during her recovery. If you are able to contribute, whether it’s financially or by sharing this message, your generosity will make a huge difference in her journey to adjust to this new chapter in her life.
Please consider donating to the Mia Fund and sharing her story with others. Every little bit helps, and your support will mean the world to her.
Thank you so much for your kindness and love.
