An incredibly difficult reality for us this past week is that my older brother, Michael passed onto Heaven on Thursday, February 28th. Just 3 days after his 51st birthday. Words can not adequately express the pain we have in our hearts.
For those who had the chance to be in his life, you were blessed to know what a caring soul he was. How much family meant to him and how much he loved his children. Although Michael's choices in life were not always the best ones, it did not mean he didn't' care. He cared immensely. Struggles with addiction can complicate the best relationships.
It is unfortunate that we are here today in a position we never thought we would be in. We have to say goodbye sooner than we expected . Michael touched so many peoples lives and it is comforting to know that he was loved by so many.
As we comfort each other during this time, we need to make decisions on honoring Michael's memory. With that, comes the cost involved in doing everything necessary to get him taken care of. We have decided to honor Michael's wish to be cremated. While we are making the decisions, we would like to ask for financial support to help defray the cost involved in creating a memorial service for Michael.
All donations will go towards funeral expenses to give him the proper memorial service he deserves. We would like to purchase memorial urns for each of his children as well. Our hope is to raise enough money to have Michael laid to rest with our mother, Virginia Urzua, who passed in 2010.
We would like to thank everyone who has been with us, reached out to us, and kept our family in your prayers.
I will keep this page updated as things evolve. I, Jeannie, along with my husband David and brother Joseph are handling all arrangements for Michael. We are in touch with the rest of the family to act on their behalf as well.
