Medical Expenses for Grayson West

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Dee, I am certain many of you heard about the birthday party with an estimated 100+ teens dancing at a birthday party when the floor collapsed. It was on the local and national news.

My nephew, 19-year-old Grayson West, was in that home when the floor collapsed and
his left ankle was shattered in the fall to the basement floor. His tibia slid off his foot, his talus bone dislocated 180 degrees and fractured, his subtalar joint dislocated and fractured, and there are other fractures. He had to have emergency surgery that evening to prevent the loss of the limb, and he has been largely immobilized since then with external hardware holding everything in place. To regain the use of his foot and ankle, he recently underwent an additional surgery on April 1, 2022.

Grayson was scheduled to start a new job the Monday after this happened and was planning to start college this fall but has kept a positive attitude despite the pain and significant setback. He is anxious and motivated to tackle PT and all that is required of him in rehabilitative care so he can move forward with his life.

Grayson's prognosis is his mobility will never be what it was before this injury and the quality and timing of surgical/medical care is foundational to maximize healing and promote the best life-long outcome.

While the family continues to advocate for Grayson to receive the care and treatment he needs, they are also worried about being able to pay for their son's medical needs. The family appreciates the many prayers sent for Grayson's speedy and complete recovery and asks that those prayers continue on his behalf.

The family did not initially set up a GoFundMe page because they felt confident that
necessary medical expenses would be covered between their medical insurance and the homeowner’s insurance.

However, over 30 days later, the insurance companies have yet to take responsibility and/or authorize the surgery that is needed but "out of network". The medical procedures and treatments necessary to allow Grayson maximum recovery and use of his foot and ankle are time-sensitive and the surgery and aftercare could not/cannot wait for the insurance companies to step up. Thus, the family has incurred unexpected and uncovered medical costs.

I would also ask those who can consider a donation to help cover the mounting costs associated with the surgeries, hospitalizations, medical testing, and physical therapy necessary to assist Grayson in achieving a full recovery. Anything would help, and all funds raised will go towards these medical bills and care.

A big THANK YOU to all for the love and support!
