Steve's Recovery

On September 8th 2019 my dad, Steve Blake, suffered an aortic dissection which lead to a major left hemispheric stroke while riding his dirt bike at Club Moto in Livermore. He was rushed to Eden Hospital in Castro Valley where he was then life-flighted to Stanford Hospital where he underwent lifesaving open-heart surgery. Nobody expected him to make it on the helicopter ride over, but as everyone knows, my dad is a fighter and made it not only on the helicopter over, but through the open-heart surgery as well. After having surgery, he was placed in a medically induced coma for two and a half weeks before the doctors tried waking him up. While in his coma, he also suffered pneumonia. The doctors originally told us he would be completely paralyzed on the right side of his body, due to the fact that the left hemisphere of his brain sustained such extensive damage because of the stroke. They also told us there was a good chance he would not be able to communicate with us ever again. If you know Steve, you know not only is he a fighter, but stubborn as hell. So while he should be paralyzed on his right side, he decided he did not want to be. My dad was at Stanford for one month before being transferred to a rehabilitation center where he learned how to eat pureed food, practice swallowing water, and relearned how to do basic everyday tasks, like dressing himself, going to the bathroom, and walking. He is now home from rehab but has a long way to go. He is still relearning how to walk and practicing balance, and more importantly, focusing on getting his brain back to normal. My dad was the breadwinner of the family, and since his stroke, my parents have been struggling to stay afloat. Between medical bills, house payments, cars breaking down, etc., they have been struggling. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
